Moving Plants 101

Moving plants can be very risky to the health of your plants. You need to be aware of the risk to the health of your plants before you make the decision to move them.

If you are moving locally which generally entails a same day move, your plants will be fine and they will survive. However if you are moving long distance there are a couple of factors you need to be aware of:

  1. Length of time on the truck –  for instance, long distance moves such as a move from Vancouver to Toronto can take anywhere from 1-3 weeks so your plants will be without water for a long time
  2. Temperature changes from one city or Province to the other can also be devastating to your plants as extreme temperature fluctuations can harm them. The inside of a moving trailer can reach temperatures in excess of 100 degrees in the summer or – 50 degrees in the winter

We recommend that you give your plants away to friends or family before you make your long distance move to ensure they live a long life.

Happy moving from Great Canadian Van Lines.
