Many people ask this question when moving, “Are my electronics insured by my mover during my move?”
Generally speaking, damages incurred in a move to electronic items are not covered under the movers insurance policy unless there is physical exterior damage to the electronic item.
The reason for this is that simple road shock or movement of an electronic item can cause an internal electrical component of the electronic item to become loose and this can cause the unit to malfunction or fail to power up.
If however, your electronic item was professionally packed by your mover and it arrived at your destination with physical exterior damage, your mover would be liable for repair, or if repair was not possible replacement; provided you had declared a value of your goods for insurance purposes.
Having your electronics professionally serviced and packed will prevent or reduce the chances of physical exterior damage and shock to the internal components.
