So you’ve found yourself packing for another move.
It’s stressful, I know. Over the course of my life I have lived in Vancouver, Toronto and Frieburg, Germany. Though every place was more than worth the experience, moving to every place also taught me that packing is a pain.
I found myself putting off packing until the last minute at almost every move. Now with a fair amount of moves under my belt I’ve learned a couple tricks.
1. Make a Playlist
This is hands down the most important part of the packing experience. If you don’t have a playlist for moving, then time will drag on for what will seem like forever. Go and spend five minutes on your iTunes making a playlist that has a good mix of pump up songs.
2. Set Goals
Before you start packing, write down what you want to get accomplished for that set day. You can even be specific with things like, “I will have the washroom packed by noon and the guest bedroom finished by dinner.”
3. Reward Friends with Pizza/Drinks
This one is a no-brainer. If your friends come over to assist you with moving, reward them. They took the time out of their day to help you, the least you can do is offer some cold beverages and pizza.
4. Go Room by Room
Rome wasn’t built in a day and your house wasn’t packed in a day either. Take your time and go room by room with your packing.
5. Label Everything
Label everything, then when things get to the new place they will be easy to organize. This stops you from having all your kitchenware end up in your master-bedroom.
Hope those help you out with your next move.
