You recently coordinated and carried out the move of my son from Toronto to Halifax. I couldn’t be more happy with the quality of all aspects of the move by Great Canadian Van Lines.
I believe I first contacted “Sara”, Great Canadian Van Lines on November 23, 2020 to obtain an estimated cost for moving my son’s household goods from Toronto to Halifax. Sara was back to me within the day with an estimate. A few emails back and forth to confirm the move and everything was finalized by November 26.

We were in a hurry to move our son to Halifax before Christmas. To our surprise Great Canadian Van Lines were able to pick up his goods on November 28. The driver that arrived to load the goods was very patient and friendly. The loading was very fast and efficient. We expected that the delivery to Halifax could take a week or more but I received a call in Halifax on the evening of November 30th from the driver reporting that he would be delivering the goods the next morning.

The goods arrived on December 1, 2020 in perfect condition and the unloading went as smooth as the loading. It was a pleasure to deal with everyone from Great Canadian Van Lines.

Great Canadian Van Lines did a great job of moving us from Toronto to Vernon BC. Their prices were also the best I could find for a long distance move. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a van line for a move.

I am very pleased with Great Canadian Van Lines. Kathy in the Surrey office was very thorough in her questions for me and I feel she went the extra mile to get my goods onto a truck from Vancouver to Toronto as quickly as possible. I used this company for a cross-Canada move at the end of September 2020 and COULD NOT BE HAPPIER. It’s expensive, get over it. The thing that set this company apart was the communication and professionalism. They did not make me feel bad for asking questions, updated my quote several times, even contacted the storage unit on the other end to ensure they could deliver easily to the location. Oh – and as someone doing the drive alone I actually was really thankful that the driver of the truck took a few minutes to check in with me EVERY SINGLE DAY during the drive to ensure I reached my destination and was safe. It’s the little things that set something like a moving company apart…and this is certainly one that took EVERY small detail into consideration. THANK YOU SO MUCH! Made this move really easy and stress-free for me.

Moving to a different province (during a pandemic no less) is extremely stressful, but GCVL took a huge weight off from Day 1. Promptly responding to inquiries immediately put me more at ease. I was on a tight timeline and they were able to make that work. Movers showed up on time and took time to carefully to wrap all my belongings. Utilized GCVL for a move from Toronto to Vancouver. Sara was my relocation consultant and she was quick to respond to any of my questions. I appreciated the detailed quote that took everything into consideration including having to use a smaller truck in Toronto due to more limited access. I am writing to express my absolute joy at having chosen your company to move my daughter home to Edmonton from Ottawa.  When I initially started looking into what was involved in a cross country move, I heard from many people about awful experiences encountered that included overpricing, broken belongings, refusal to unload until extra costs were paid, and the list went on.  I was worried that I may become stuck in a similar situation, but my greatest focus turned to getting my daughter home safely during this pandemic.

I spoke to a number of moving companies, and what I found most intimidating was the huge variation in cost.  I accidentally stumbled upon the phone number for Great Canadian Van Lines.  My first call to your company was answered by Kathy Dorland, and I knew after that phone conversation with her that I was going to be using our company to facilitate this move.  That is where I became a loyal customer and forever Great Canadian Van Lines will be on the tip of my tongue if ever asked for the name of a great moving company.

This initial contact with Kathy had been months prior to the move, as I was not able to give a specific moving date,  but then Covid19 put a different spin on my timeframe.  Needless to say, every time I contacted Kathy, I had a million questions which she answered in a way that always put me at ease.  Once we pinned down a ‘near date’, Kathy orchestrated getting the wheels in motion for the upcoming move, and I did not make it easy or simple.  Kathy accommodated many changed moving dates, dealt with the dynamics of additional furniture purchased over the months after our first contact until I actually confirmed the booking, and stayed in touch with me continually until the finish.

You do have to know that it was because of Kathy that I chose Great Canadian Van Lines.  She was the absolute best on that first day, and I recognized very early on that this was not the “let’s be nice to hook her in”, but rather this was exactly her personality.  She obviously takes pride in her work and is willing to go the extra mile to ensure a stress free, successful end result.  That is how she was right through to the final day when the moving van pulled up to my home in Edmonton with my daughter’s belongings, all without even a scratch!  It is pretty obvious that this is who Kathy is – honest, knowledgeable, professional, empathetic, and very much on top of knowing what a satisfied customer means to your company.  She is a phenomenal ambassador for Great Canadian Van Lines.  She made me feel that my needs were very important and that I was truly a valued customer.  Each and every time I contacted her, even when she didn’t hear from me for a few months, she treated me this way, and this was even before she knew she had cinched my business.

Everything worked out just as she said.  She knew where a shuttle would be required, and knew exactly what I meant when I tried to describe the pieces of furniture for the inventory.  I cannot stress enough how she was able to take what I saw as an extremely stressful time in my life and bring me a welcoming sense of calm.  She assured me the people she worked with, those that I would come into contact with during this move, were extremely professional and would take care of my daughter’s and my needs exactly as promised.  You know, she was right!  My daughter flew back to Ottawa to pack up her suite.  She contacted me after the movers had left and told me they were so professional and were on task the entire time, and told her what she needed to know (ie, how the couch legs were tucked inside the couch, “here’s the light bulb for the lamp – keep it safe”).  As Kathy said would happen, I would be given a “heads up” when the truck was a few days away, and as Kathy said, “Peter is the best there is”, and he was!  Again, the furniture was unloaded, absolutely no damage, not even a scratch, and Peter finalized our move with the exact professionalism that Kathy said would happen.  The fact that she had such faith in her colleagues gave me a very clear indication that this woman also knows that it’s the TEAM (remember … no ‘I’ in Team) that makes the really effective work happen.

I tried to do a Google review, but discovered I am totally inept with that technology, but did want to express my sincere gratitude to Great Canadian Van Lines for a seamless move, but especially express my sincere gratitude to Kathy Dorland.  If I had not encountered her, I likely would have just moved on to calling the next moving company, and the next one after that.  Please ensure Kathy knows how much her personability has impressed me.  Employees like this are one in a million!

During my initial research for moving across Canada, I got three quotes from different companies. GCVL were very responsive and had a slightly better price than the others I was comparing. A friend had also used them in the past without issue, so I decided to go with them. Sara, the “Relocation Consultant” who I helped get my quote and answer any questions I had before and during the move, was very responsive and easy to communicate with. She addressed any questions or concerns I had regarding fees for certain items on my quote. Both my move out experience and move in experience were excellent. The move out team was on-time, very efficient, and wrapped everything to protect it. The move out team was similarly efficient and had a system to check that each item was accounted for before leaving. There was some very minor dents/scratches on a few pieces of furniture, but not something you would notice unless you were looking for it and it didn’t bother me. If it was a more expensive piece of furniture I might have been more concerned. Overall, I would recommend GCVL based on my experience for moving across Canada.

We had a wonderful experience with our cross country move from BC to Ontario during the Covid 19 pandemic situation. All this starting with Kathy D****** patiently answering all our questions, a great moving rate, great communication and an exemplary moving day experience. This was the best choice I could have ever made for my move from Vancouver to Toronto Kathy Dorland was very responsive with my booking needs and answered all my questions very promptly. This was a major move for us and after careful consideration, we chose Great Canadian Van Lines to move us from B.C to Ontario during the height of COVID-19. We needed to ship two cars as well, which Great Canadian Van Lines organized for us with Livingston Transportation which also gets an honourable mention here. GCVL organized 4 men to look after our move out and 4 men to move us into our new home. The one constant individual was the driver Sean, the leader who not only did the drive across the country but was tasked with disassembling and reassembling our expensive Martix Elliptical machine (which we paid for in advance). My one recommendation to GCVL would be to make sure that this individual was qualified to do this. As it turned out, Sean wasn’t able to successfully reassemble our machine, so we had to organize another company to do this. GCVL took full responsibility for the error and quickly reimbursed me in full for the additional work done. Back to the move in. It was a scorching hot day in July and everyone powered through it graciously. A special mention and thanks goes to Sean who has an amazing work ethic! GCVL actually went out of their way to get our delivery date shifted two days earlier which was amazing! So yes, we highly recommend GCVL for anyone needing a long-haul move. Considering the pandemic, our move was stress-free and on time with NO Damage.

We used Great Canadian Van Lines for our move from B.C. to Ontario this spring 2020. They were very professional and responsive to all of our inquiries, and provided a detailed breakdown of all the costs so there were no surprises. The moving crew worked quickly and carefully with our belongings. Even though our move took place during the early stages of the pandemic, there were no delays with shipping. Recently moved from Montreal to Vancouver in the summer 2020. First off, the guys in Montreal were phenomenal, they were a subcontracted **** ****/North American crew. Good first impression, nice wrapping jobs etc. The GCVL delivery crew was good too, very careful, didn’t scratch a thing, got in touch with us in plenty of time to schedule the drop off. Overall, I would say that this company is a great option compared to the big van lines. Just be clear that you want to know all the potential additional costs up front: elevator fees, shuttle/pickup/drop fees, fuel fees, and weighing fees, etc. and be clear that you want to know the weight the day you load. They have no problem giving you this information and detail in the quote, but you have to know what to ask. I think this company has been in business a long time (30 years?) and they seem quite honest. Point is, if you are reading this review and wondering if you should go with them or not, I have moved back and forth across Canada many times, and this was the best, most straightforward experience I have had. I will use them them again in the future without question.

It was our first time using a professional moving company, and we were moving from Ottawa to Calgary, so we had many questions about the process and Sara and the team answered all of them thoroughly. Ken and Dave handled our furniture with care and nothing was broken or scratched! Given the elevator in our new building needed to be booked in advance, they were very accommodating, giving us an approximate window for us to book the elevator for, then making sure to arrive at the small window. Also, after we noticed a small scratch on our wood floors, Great Canadian Van Lines was quick to reimburse us for the cost of the repair. We highly recommend this company – great service!

Great customer service in coordinating my move from QC to SK. The consultant Sarah was helpful and super responsive to my many questions and concerns. The estimate she provided was much closer to the actual weight and cost than the ones I got from other companies (which is key, you don’t want to end up with a surprise extra $1000 when the truck gets weighed). Movers did a fine job, everything arrived intact, undamaged and on time. Overall a very good experience and good company- they stand out in an industry that can be sketchy and/or super expensive.

Recently did a move from Vancouver Island to Nova Scotia. Was a little nervous about sending our things on such a long trip, tried to find a way to do it ourselves or rent a POD because I had heard such bad stories about long moves and how things get broken or lost. But because of Covid we ended up chosing Great Canadian Van lines, partly because they’re Canadian but also I had read some good things about them. They were a little pricier than the low end movers but for such a long move we thought we’d better pay, and hope for the best. On move day they showed up a couple of hours late, hmmm I wondered, but to be fair they had to get the ferry across from Vancouver to the Island, and we were in the middle of the Covid epidemic and ferry’s were running at half capacity. But regardless, I called the office and they told me they were on the way and gave me the number of the driver if I wanted to call, which I finally did and they were right close by. The movers were great, friendly and respectful and they tagged every item with a color coded tag so that nothing would get lost or mixed with anybody else’s things. The same lead driver showed up at the other end, I was surprised, thought they would change drivers for such a long move. They showed up on time, unloaded everything without incident and even took many things up to the 3rd floor without complaint. So the move went very well, and one of the other things that was really appreciated was the quick communication from the office whenever I had a question or issue or concern. They were really on the ball and it made a huge difference in making the move as stress free as possible. Hope this helps someone, I would definitely use them again!

Great Canadian Van Lines was the best choice I could have ever made for my move from Toronto to Saskatoon! Sara was very responsive with my booking needs, and answered all my questions very promptly. I felt well prepared before the move, and knew what to expect. Amar Sihu and Jazzy were the most amazing movers ever. I have heard so many horror stories about bad movers, but they were an amazing team. Amar did a great job communicating when he would arrive for both the pickup and drop-off, and he even responded to a last minute request for additional mattress bags. He called me when he was a day away, and even called to let me know he was just 45 minutes late coming in. The communication was excellent, and that made me feel reassured about everything. He came prepared with tons of blankets and took great care to wrap all our furniture properly. They were fast and efficient, and I felt at ease that our stuff would be well taken care of. The sales rep, Sara, did a great job answering all of my questions quickly and completely. We were moving from NS to BC for my wife’s job. The pandemic went into full effect after we planned the move and we were worried about alot of different aspects of the move. Sara put our mind to rest about our stuff being picked up and delivered . We have small kids so furniture and toys are incredibly important for isolating after the move. I will use this company if we move again for sure.

I have used GCV twice to get from British Columbia to Toronto and back. Both times I worked with Sara Engelsman and cant say enough about her service and assistance throughout the move. Great service from beginning to end. The consultant I worked with was patient and understanding, helping me figure out my packing list, price, parking, etc. for my move from Ontario to Alberta. In the end, the estimate I had was accurate, and the bill of lading detailed. The movers themselves were nice and took excellent care in the moving and wrapping of my things. One of the dining chairs had a minor break which was fixed on-site and is no longer visible. I definitely recommend GCVL to anyone needing to do a long-distance move and wanting it to be as stress-free as possible.

We had a great experience in having our household packed up, stored and moved across the country. The movers were very efficient and took great care with our household belongings. Great Canadian Van Lines was a great company to work with for my move from Edmonton to Toronto in December. From booking through final delivery everything went smoothly. The circumstances around my move were unpleasant but Sara and Daniel (my driver) at Great Canadian Van Lines took the stress out of the move from BC to QC. I can’t say enough great things about them.
