Picking the university you’re going to spend the next four to five years is no easy task. You want to make sure you pick the right school for your program of choice and more importantly you want it to be in a great city where you can hopefully find a job when you’re finally done studying. Here is a look at the best university cities in Canada. Hopefully, this list will help you make a sound university decision.

5. Quebec City

Quebec City is not only the capital of Quebec, but it is also home to one of the best university cities in the world. Quebec City is mostly known for historical significance in Canadian history, but there is no doubt you’ll find some of the best post-secondary schools in the country right here in Quebec City. Laval University is its highest ranking school, but if a university is not for you, Quebec City also has a number of CEGEP schools for you as well.

4. Ottawa

There is no doubt that the nation’s capital is one of the best places to attend school. If you’re someone pursuing a career in politics, there is obviously no better place to be in Canada than where all of the country’s politics take place. The University of Ottawa and Carleton University compete to attract the best and brightest students every year. Students who attend school in this city will also tell you that this is some of the best years of their life.

3. Toronto

Toronto is one of the most culturally diverse cities in the world, so along with your university education, you’ll receive a real and genuine cultural education if you just take the time to explore the city. As the city continues to grow, so does the job market in Toronto which can only be good for recent graduates. University of Toronto, York University, Ryerson University, OCAD University, and the University of Guelph-Humber are the great choices students have to pick from, with the University of Toronto ranking the highest.

Vancouver has been growing at such a rapid pace over the last decade that people have just become more attracted to it and are continuing to move there. And most don’t see that slowing down in the near future. Vancouver is home to over half a dozen universities, but the University of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University are their largest ones.

The number one university city in the country and in the world belongs to Montreal! Of course, Montreal is in Quebec, which means the primary language in the province is French, but there a few English speaking schools in Montreal, including one of the top-ranked schools in the world, McGill University. The top French-speaking school in Montreal is the University of Montreal, which is also one of the largest research universities in the country.
