On behalf of the team at Canuck Place, I wanted to take a moment this Thanksgiving to thank you for your incredible support. We could not do what we do at Canuck Place without you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
This year has been very difficult for everyone. This pandemic has shown us all the importance of our mental health, being connected to family, and our general well-being. For the 818 children with life-threatening illnesses and families in our care, COVID-19 has further disrupted lives that are already deeply impacted by uncertainty.
At Canuck Place we can’t add days to the life of a child, but we can add life to their days. Your support allows us to provide world-leading pediatric palliative care where and when it is needed the most. This includes medical respite care in our two hospices, end-of-life care, grief, loss, and bereavement counselling, and so much more. All at no cost to families.
As medical director of Canuck Place for 19 out of our hospice’s 25 years, the children and families I care for have taught me to honour precious moments of being together. On this Thanksgiving, I hope you’ll join all of us at Canuck Place in savouring every moment and connecting with those you love in the best way that you can.
With gratitude for all that you do, I wish you a happy Thanksgiving.
