Shipping a Vehicle Long Distance

Shipping vehicle long distance

Are you looking at shipping a vehicle  long distance?

When it comes to your DeLorian DMC-12, if you’re looking to ship it to the future then you”ll have to consult Michael J Fox. If you’re looking at  long distance vehicle shipping, then we can help you out with these tips.

There are a number of ways to ship your vehicle when moving long distance. Most movers prefer not to ship vehicles in their long distance furniture moving vans because they quite simply take up too much room and don’t pay as well based on the space they take up.  Another reason is that vehicles can leak fluids causing damage to the floors and furniture in long distance moving trailers. Ultimately, shipping a vehicle long distance via moving truck is not your best option.

You can drive your vehicle yourself, however be prepared for a hefty fuel bill and possible normal road wear and tare damage to your car or truck.

So what is the best way to ship your vehicle long distance then? The answer is by rail. Shipping a vehicle long distance by rail may take a little longer than by highway but it’s much cheaper and these rail units are designed specifically for vehicle shipping. Your mover should be fully qualified to do this for you and will need the following information to coordinate your vehicle shipping by rail:

  1. Vehicle make and model
  2. VIN number
  3. License plate number
